From his current role with the State of Delaware to by appointed by President Obama to serve as the inaugural Executive Director & Chief Operating Officer, and Secretary of the Board of Directors for the National Foundation on Fitness, Sports, and Nutrition (NFFSN). He primarily focuses on issues in physical activity, nutrition, tobacco, healthy weight, cancer, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. Provide oversight over 100 staff, a $30 million dollar budget, and several statewide initiatives. Manage strategic outreach and partnerships with private sector, academia, non-profits, and other government agencies including coordination and support of the Governor’s Council on Health Promotion and Disease Prevention. Develop and implement programs, policies and procedures to meet statewide needs. Develop and plan for integration of efforts with multiple statewide partners and coalitions. Oversee and manage program budgets; plans and monitor allocation and expenditures involving state and federal funds. Design, review and revise quality assurance, performance improvement, strategy mapping, and balanced scorecard initiatives. Collaborate with private sector, foundations, and other organizations to support our statewide mission. Establish short and long range program plans that integrate the role and responsibilities of each initiative into the overall mission of public health. Coordinate statewide public health efforts with aligned federal efforts including the National Prevention Strategy, Healthy People 2020, and the National Physical Activity Plan. Manage the integration of program and services to ensure partners are fully informed and aligned with efforts.
