Dr. John Nagl stops by Executives After Hours Podcast to talk about his personal journey. Dr. Nagl is a primary author of the U.S. Army/Marine Corps Counterinsurgency Field (2007), and has written two books on counterinsurgency titled, Learning to Eat Soup with a Knife: Counterinsurgency Lessons from Malaya and Vietnam(2002) and Knife Fights: A Memoir of Modern War in Theory and Practice(2014). Since retiring from the military (2008), Dr. Nagl has held several roles in and around the government but has finally taken on his biggest task as the Headmaster for The Haverford School for Boys. With his roots in Jesuit education, West Point, and Oxford graduate, and government bureaucracy, Dr. Nagl now has to get 900 plus boys moving in the same direction. This could rival his work in the military. While acting as headmaster, Dr. Nagl continues to engage in the community speaking on the military, its soldiers, and the role counterinsurgency plays in modern warfare.
